What is the difference between stimuli and stimulus?

Biology

The word “stimuli” is the plural form of the word “stimulus”, so they are both the same. A piece of meat would be a stimulus for a dog; a piece of meat and a horn blowing at the same time would, together, be stimuli. I believe it is derived from the Latin.

The main target when controlling the acidity of soils is ______. a. neutralizing the pH b. adding base c. replacing lost cation
malfutka [58]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

Acidic soils mean they have more of Al3+ and H+ ions which are acid forming cations. These cations make alkaline forming ions unavailable to plants as nutrients. When the pH of the soil is raised, the Al3+, Fe3+, and H+ are neutralized. The ions bind with –OH ions hence releasing the ions in the negatively-charged sites on the hummus to play a role in the nutrient exchange.

Many wants to increase the yield of herd garden. A friend suggest that she pinch of the tops of the plants as the grow by cuttin
exis [7]

Yes, the pinch of the top of plant in growing time by cutting through apical meristem is helpful for creating the cells and it is also helpful for growth of plant and for the increase in the yield of garden.

Explanation:

Apical meristem is below the surface of the branches and also the roots. Some cells are divided through this process but some other cells are differentiated and divided into structural or vascular cells. There are mainly two types of apical meristems based on its location present in plant. The root apical meristem and shoot apical meristem.

In the experiment determining the parental genotype of plant seedlings from a monohybrid cross, if the dominant color was green
eimsori [14]

Answer:

cc × cc

Explanation:

This question involves a single gene coding for plant seedling. The green allele (C) is dominant over the white allele (c). This means that the green allele will mask the phenotypic expression of the white allele in a heterozygous state (Cc).

In this experiment where plate 1 only contained white seedlings instead of all green, this illustrates that all the offsprings were recessive. This is because the parental genotypes were both recessive for the color trait i.e. cc.

Note that, the recessive trait can only be expressed when the recessive alleles are present in a gene. Therefore, the parental genotype would have been cc × cc, in order to give rise to all offsprings with the recessive trait (white colour).
