To turn a mixed number into a improper fraction you multiply 4 by 33 and then add 3 to that number. after this you put that over 4 and this will give you 135/4. Yes they did walk the same distance because you multiply 5/8 by 2 and it will give you 10/16

For the second half of the question, the answer is yes because you can multiply 5/8 by 2 and get 10/16 or you could divide 10/16 by 2 and get 5/8. Hope this helps!

How will you teach a child about 8/10*1
NARA [144]
Just as how you would teach multiplication to any child in the beginning. There is 1 set of 2 pencils. 1 * 2 = 2 pencils. There are 2 sets of pencils. 2 * 2 = 4 pencils. You would apply the same concept to 8/10 that any number multiplied by 1 is itself.

there are 13 animals in a barn. some are ducks and some are pigs. there are 40 legs in all. how many of each animal are there?
konstantin123 [22]
Let X be chickens
Let Y be pigs,
then x+y=13
the animals have 2x+4y legs,
 so 2x+4y=40
The system of the equations
[X+y=13
[2x+4y=40
Divide the second equation by 2
[x+y=13
[x+2y=20
subtract the first equation from the second one
y=20-13
y-7 pigs
substitute y=7 into the first equation
x+7=13
x=13-7
x=6 chickens

Simplify the expression the root of negative one all over the quantity of four minus three i minus the quantity of two plus five
svlad2 [7]
We will break this down into its parts:
We know that this is a fraction where the numerator is √(-1) = i
The denominator:
4 - 3i - (2 + 5i); we put 2 + 5i in brackets because we are to subtract its quantity.
Simplifying the denominator:
4 - 3i - 2 - 5i
= 2 - 8i
Now, we write the expression in fractional form:
i / (2 - 8i)
To remove an imaginary number from the denominator, we multiply and divide by its conjugate. The conjugate of a + bi is a - bi
i(2 + 8i) / (2² - (8i)²)
= (-8 + 2i) / (4 + 64)
= -2/17 + i/34
