They both address the issue of finding the best way to write a narrative. They both wrote their respective essays dealing with how to be a great writer, based on what seems to be the best thing to do so as to have the readers enjoy. Edgar Allan Poe based his on the famous poem the Raven, where he mathematically and phonologically explained why his poem is extremely successful.
