3n + 6b = 72...multiply by 4
4n + 5b = 66 ...multiply by -3
----------------
12n + 24b = 288 (result of multiplying by 4)
-12n - 15b = - 198 (result of multiplying by -3)
---------------add
9b = 90
b = 90/9
b = 10 .....each bolt is 10 grams

3n + 6b = 72
3n + 6(10) = 72
3n + 60 = 72
3n = 72 - 60
3n = 12
n = 12/3
n = 4.....each nut is 4 grams

so the mass of 1 bolt and 1 nut = 10 + 4 = 14 grams <==

Which of the following is equivalent to log 8 40 rounded to three decimal places?
agasfer [191]
Answer:
1.774

Explanation:
Before we begin, remember the following rules:
logₐ(a) = 1
log(ab) = log(a) + log(b)

Now, for the given:
log₈(40) = log₈(5*8)
              = log₈(5) + log₈(8)
              = 0.7739 + 1
              = 1.7739 which is approximately 1.774

Hope this helps :)

A fish tank initially contains 15 liters of pure water. Brine of constant, but unknown, concentration of salt is flowing in at 4
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

dx/dt = 4c - 4x/15

Step-by-step explanation:

a. Find a formula for the rate of change in the amount of salt, dx/dtdx/dt, in terms of the amount of salt in the solution

Let c be the concentration of the incoming brine in grams per liter. Since it flows in at a rate of 4 liters per minute, the mass flow in is thus 4m.

Let x be the mass of salt present at time, t. The concentration of salt present at time, t is thus mass of salt/volume of tank = x/15. Since the well mixed solution is drained at 4 liters per minute, the mass flow out is thus 4x/15.

The net rate of change of amount of salt dx/dt = mass flow in - mass flow out

dx/dt = 4c - 4x/15
