Answer;

C) organic matter; rocks.

The uppermost horizon, horizon O, in this profile is composed mostly of organic matter, while the lower horizon, horizon C, is composed mostly of rocks.

Explanation;

-Soil contains the following major horizons, that is A B and C. Some soils may have horizon O, which may be thin or thick or even lack in some soils. This O horizon is found at the surface of many soils and normally contains organic materials at various decomposition stages. these are materials such as plants, leaves and bugs.

-C horizon is the layer that is below the B horizon. It contains larger weathered fragments or broken up-bedrock.

Assume that for a given gene a mutation creates an allele that functions as a dominant negative. The gene codes for a protein th
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer: 100%

Explanation:

if the mutation presents autosomal dominant inheritance, each affected individual will show 100% alteration in the protein, thus , being dominant, it is considered that the disease pattern will predominate even if it has genes that do not express it since these will be recessive and canceled by the dominant ones.

What term is used to describe the relationship of the DNA strands to each other?
xxTIMURxx [149]

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-B.

Explanation:

Deoxyribose nucleic acid or DNA is the genetic material of the organism which is made up of nucleotide monomer. The structure of DNA is made up of two strands of nucleotides coiled in a helical structure thus providing a double-helical shape to the structure.

Each nucleotide of a strand is composed of a five-carbon sugar, phosphate group and nitrogenous bases. These molecules are arranged in anti-parallel fashion in DNA which provides the polarity to the DNA strand. One strand is read from the 5' to 3' direction whereas another form 3'to 5' direction.

Thus, Option-B is the correct answer.

The antigen-binding sites of an antibody molecule are formed from the molecule's variable regions. why are these regions describ
tino4ka555 [31]

The antigen-binding sites of an antibody molecule are formed from the molecule's variable regions which are described as so because their amino acid sequences can be different on different antibodies.

The specificity of antibodies is determined by the variable regions found at their endpoints. Antibodies are specialized proteins secreted by B-cells of the immune system. They are also called immunoglobulins. They contain four polypeptide chains that comprise two heavy chains and two light chains to form a Y-shaped molecule.

The variable regions, more specifically the hypervariable regions of an antibody, have a high ratio of different amino acids with the most common amino acids provided in one place. The variable region serves as the antigen-binding site while the constant region found below the variable region is determined to invade the antigen.

Antibodies are preserved in our body to identify the antigen the next time it encounters. They send the signals to the other body parts to reject the antigen and invade it.

How would you explain that your brain is “plastic”? How does this help us learn?
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

Plasticity is the capacity of the brain to change with learning. Changes associated with learning occur mostly at the level of connections between neurons: New connections form and the internal structure of the existing synapses change. ... Plastic changes also occur in musicians brains compared to non-musicians.
