Steve and Tammy leave a campground, hiking on two different trails. Steve
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

Steve walked 7 miles and Tammy walked 2 miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Okie dokie, so we know that there is a total of 9 miles between them.

Now, let's call the miles walked by Tammy, m.

We also know that Steve walked 2 times the amount Tammy walked plus another 3 miles, so we can label his as, 2m + 3.

Now, let's put that all together into an equation:

9 = 2m + 3 + m

The first thing we have to do is isolate the variable, so we subtract 3 from both sides:

6 = 2m + m

Now we combine the like variables:

6 = 3m

Now in order to determine the variable, we divide by 3 on both sides:

M = 2

So we now know that Tammy walked 2 miles, but we're not done yet.

Because Steve walked 2x as much, we multiply 2 by 2 to get 4 miles.

Finally, we have to add the 3 extra miles, so we get a total of 7 miles.

Hope this helps! :)

Not sure how to do #69, it's a calc 1 question
Gnoma [55]
Let A( t , f( t ) ) be the point(s) at which the graph of the function has a horizontal tangent => f ' ( t ) = 0.

But, f ' ( x ) = [ ( x^2 ) ' * ( x - 1 ) - ( x^2 ) * ( x - 1 )' ] / ( x - 1 )^2 =>
f ' ( x ) = [ 2x( x - 1 ) - ( x^2 ) * 1 ] / ( x - 1 )^2 => f ' ( x ) = ( x^2 - 2x ) / ( x - 1 )^2;

f ' ( t ) = 0 <=> t^2 - 2t = 0 <=> t * ( t - 2 ) = 0 <=> t = 0 or t = 2 => f ( 0 ) = 0; f ( 2 ) = 4 => A 1 ( 0 , 0 ) and A 2 ( 2 , 4 ).

What is Negative three-fourths + 2 and three-fourths? 3 and one-half 3 and three-fourths 2 and one-half 2
GaryK [48]
-3/4 + 2 3/4

When dealing with a problem like this, it’s easiest to reorder the terms. So we’d say...
2 3/4-3/4=2

Then we’re really just subtracting 3/4 from the original number and our answer is 2.
