Write a quadratic equation in standard form that has roots of -12 and 2
Vinvika [58]

A quadratic with roots at 8 and 5 is f(x) = x^2 + 10x - 24

In order to find an equation given roots you can create statements that equal 0 in order to create parenthesis. For instance we know x = 8 at one point. So, we can solve that to equal 0.

x = -12 ----> add 8 from both sides

x + 12 = 0

We can do the same for the other zero.

x = 2 ----> subtract from both sides

x - 2 = 0

Now that we have both of these, we can multiply these two things together. This will give us the function we need.

f(x) = (x + 12)(x - 2)

f(x) = x^2 + 12x - 2x - 24

f(x) = x^2 + 10x - 24

Find the average rate of change of the function over the given interval.. h(t) = cot t, intervals given [pi/4, (3pi)/4]. I've go
Phantasy [73]
<span>Hi! All you need to know is that cot stands for cotangent and its the reciprocal of tan i.e. cot(x) = 1/tan(x). You probably know that tan(pi/4) = 1 and that tan(3pi/4) = -1. Happily in these cases it means that cot and tan come out the same (1/1 = 1 and 1/-1 = -1). -1 - (+1) = -2 and this divided by pi/2 = -2/(pi/2) which looks a bit untidy so multiply the top and bottom by 2 (to get rid of the 2 in pi/2) and the answer is -4/pi. Damm [24]

Step-by-step explanation:

Well, if 1 gallon of gas = 1 hour then

2 hours would be 2 gallons so only 11 gallons of gas would be left in the tank and

13 hours would be 13 gallons, so 0 gallons of gas would be left in the tank
