Consider the polynomial p(x) = x^3 + 4x^2 + 6x − 36.
Nady [450]

Answer:

a. attached graph; zero real: 2

b. p(x) = (x - 2)(x + 3 + 3i)(x + 3 - 3i)

c. the solutions are 2, -3-3i and -3+3i

Step-by-step explanation:

p(x) = x³ + 4x² + 6x - 36

a. Through the graph, we can see that 2 is a real zero of the polynomial p. We can also use the Rational Roots Test.

p(2) = 2³ + 4.2² + 6.2 - 36 = 8 + 16 + 12 - 36 = 0

b. Now, we can use Briott-Ruffini to find the other roots and write p as a product of linear factors.

2 |  1     4     6    -36

     1      6    18     0

x² + 6x + 18 = 0

Δ = 6² - 4.1.18 = 36 - 72 = -36 = 36i²

√Δ = 6i

x = -6±6i/2 = 2(-3±3i)/2

x' = -3-3i

x" = -3+3i

p(x) = (x - 2)(x + 3 + 3i)(x + 3 - 3i)

c. the solutions are 2, -3-3i and -3+3i

PLEASE HELP!!! I've been really struggling with these. Can someone assist with this?
Archy [21]
When dealing with little odds you must know one part and the whole part. For number 1 a fraction , 7 is a part of a 11 which is the whole. For 2 a percent, 6% part and 100% whole, here you had to know that for 6% to exist there had to be a 100% . For 3 a ratio, the first number is part (2) and the second is whole (7). Look at pic for all work.

The average marks of the first 10 students are 17 and that of the next 15 students is 18. find the mean of 25 students?
Ray Of Light [21]

Answer:

The mean of 25 students is 17.6

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of the mean (average) is mean (average) = \frac{S}{N} , where S is the sum of the data, and N is the number of the data

∵ The average marks of the first 10 students are 17

- That means the mean is 17 and the number of students is 10

∴ Average = 17

∴ N = 10

∵ Average = \frac{S}{N}

- Substitute average by 17 and N by 10

∴ 17 = \frac{S}{10}

- Multiply both sides by 10

∴ 170 = S

∴ The sum of the marks of the first 10 students is 170

∵ The average of the next 15 students is 18

∴ Average = 18

∴ N = 15

- Substitute average by 18 and N by 15

∴ 18 = \frac{S}{15}

- Multiply both sides by 15

∴ 270 = S

∴ The sum of the marks of the next 15 students is 270

Now to find the mean of 25 students and the two sums and divide the answer by 25

∵ S = 170 + 270

∴ S = 440

∵ N = 25

∴ Mean = \frac{440}{25}

∴ Mean = 17.6

The mean of 25 students is 17.6

A suburban specialty restaurant has developed a single drive-thru window. Customers order, pay, and pick up their food at the sa
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:  Option 'c' is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Average number of arrivals = 6 per hour

Service rate = 3 every 15 minutes

Service rate is given by

\mu=\dfrac{60\times 3}{15}=12

So, the average number of customers in the system is given by

\dfrac{\mu}{\mu-\lambda}\\\\=\dfrac{6}{12-6}\\\\=\dfrac{6}{6}\\\\=1

Hence, Option 'c' is correct.
