Generalize the patterns you noticed in part D to create a rule or identity to describe those patterns. For example, if you notic

e that every time you multiply a negative number by another negative number the result is positive, we can generalize this by saying (-a)(-b) = c, where a, b, and c are all positive real numbers.

I know it is probably to late for your answer but if you are on Solving and Reasoning with Complex Numbers: Tutorial in Edmentum, then the answer for part D on the first lesson activity is this word for word.

This equation generalizes the patterns seen in part D, where a and b represent real numbers:

(a + bi)(a − bi) = a2 + b2.

Hope this helps good luck

A number is picked randomly in the range [2,8]. If past selection indicates that the numbers picked are less than 5, what is the
yawa3891 [41]

Answer:

a) P = 2/7

b) P = 4/7

c) P = 1/7

Step-by-step explanation:

In the range of [2,8], we have the following integers which are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. So this is a total of 7 integers.

a) We look for the probability that the numbers are less than 4, so we conclude that there are possible numbers 2 and 3 out of possible 7, so the required probability is equal to P = 2/7.

b) We look for the probability that the numbers are greater than 4, so we conclude that there are possible numbers 5, 6, 7, 8 out of possible 7, so the required probability is equal to P = 4/7.

c) Based on the previous two examples, we conclude that the required probability is P = 2/7· 1/2=1/7.

Write r=-8sec(theta) in rectangular form
Airida [17]
r=-8\sec\theta=-\dfrac8{\cos\theta}\implies r\cos\theta=-8

Converting from rectangular coordinates to polar coordinates involves setting (x,y)=(r\cos\theta,r\sin\theta). Since the left hand side matches x perfectly, the equation's rectangular coordinate form is x=-8.
