A ship at sea, the Gladstone, spots two other ships, the Norman and the Voyager, and measures the angle between them to be 48°.

The distance between the Gladstone and the Norman is 4590 yards. The Norman measures an angle of 55° between the Gladstone and the Voyager. To the nearest yard, what is the distance between the Norman and the Voyager?

Answer:

Distance between Voyager and Norman is 3501 yards.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the figure attached, There are three ships Gladstone, Norman and Voyager based at vertices of a triangle.

Distance between Gladstone and Voyager is 4590 yards, angle between Norman and Voyager is 48° and angle between Gladstone and Voyager is 55°

Since we know m∠N + m∠G + m∠V = 180° [ angles of a triangle ]

So 48 + 55 + m∠V = 180

m∠V = 180 - 103

m∠V = 77°

Now we apply sine rule in the triangle.

\frac{x}{sin48}=\frac{4590}{sin77}

\frac{x}{0.743}=\frac{4590}{0.974}

x = \frac{4590\times0.745}{0.974}

x = 3501.40 ≈ 3501 yards

Therefore, distance between Norman and Voyager is 3501 yards.

Use the sine rule:-

x / sin 48  =  4590 / sin (180-48-55)

x / sin 48 = 4590 / sin 103

x = 4590 * sin 48  / sin 103  =   3500.8 yards to nearest tenth

The length of a rectangle is 3 more than 4timesthe width . If the length of the rectangle is 27 feet what is the width
vlabodo [156]
To answer this question, you need to translate the description into a formula. The formula that can be made should be: length of rectangle= 3+ (4* rectangle width). You already know the length, so you can find the width by inserting it to the formula. The calculation would be:

Length= 3+ 4*width
27ft= 3ft+ 4*width
4*width= 27ft-3ft= 24ft
width= 6ft

Find X, and the two angle measures.
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

x = -4

m<LMP = 77°

m<NMP = 103°

Step-by-step explanation:

Straight angles by definition have a total measure of 180°.

This means that m<LMP and m<NMP are 180° together.

Therefore m<LMP + m<NMP = 180°.

[substitution property]

(-16x + 13)° + (-20x + 23)° = 180°

[associative property of addition]

(-36x + 36)° = 180°

-36x + 36 = 180

–36 –36

-36x = 144

÷-36 ÷-36

x = -4

_________________

Since m<LMP = (-16x + 13)°.

Using substitution with x = -4:

m<LMP = (-16(-4) + 13)° = (64 + 13)° = 77°.

Since m<NMP = (-20x + 23)°.

Using substitution with x = -4:

m<NMP = (-20(-4) + 23)° = (80 + 23)° = 103°.

This is true because 77° + 103° = 180°.
