Answer: Robert Hook

Robert Hook was the first scientist to discover cells with the use of homemade microscope. He discovered cells for the first time in 1665. He took thin slice of cork from tree bark and observed it under his homemade microscope. He observed that cork was made of tiny boxes he named these boxes as cells.
