'No taxation without representation." That's a motto my teacher taught me, well she got it from the colonist, this is what they said to the king In response to all the taxes. A grievance is something that is really unfair, and is placed with no purpose. Britain kept on taxing the colonist with no reason, you wouldn't believe the taxes they would give.

The gulf of Tonkin incident led the United States Congress
to overwhelming approve the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. This resolution gave
President Lyndon B. Johnson virtually unlimited powers to oppose communist
aggression in Southeast Asia. President Lyndon was also advised on how any
potential war with the North Vietnamese might be fought.
The textbook’s authors are correct to conclude that Congress only has few, if there is any, powers remaining. Congress hasn’t declared war since 1941 of December, clearly presenting that Congress has no control over whether United States can go to war. One major reason that Congress is in this situation is because the president claims that that he inherent the sole executive power to defend America’s interest. Another major reason for Congress lack of war power is because of Truman.
Popular sovereignty, or sovereignty of the peoples' rule, is the principle that the authority of a state and its government are created and sustained by the consent of its people, through their elected representatives (Rule by the People), who is the source of all political power.
Cyrus' conquest was relatively humane compared to empires preceding his, such as the Babylonians and Assyrians. He allowed many areas of his empire a great deal of autonomy, rather than centrally controlling things. This distributed leadership allowed Persia to cover a greater geographical area than previous empires in that era and still be fairly stable, since most of its subjects were content to remain under Persian rule. Persian law was more codified and less arbitrary than previous empires; the king's seal declared approval of law which could only be reversed by further approved decrees -- not quite rule of law but going in that direction.
