How did manifest destiny help shape the U.S. governments's policies of land acquisition?
Umnica [9.8K]
The idea of manifest destiny greatly helped shape the U.S. governments's policies of land acquisition, since this held that the US was "destined" to expand from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific--meaning that the US embarked on a series of wars with Mexico and confrontations with Natives that helped the settlers move west.

Alexxandr [17]

Answer: 1. A. Plantation

2. C. North

Explanation:

The South's economy was mainly based on Agriculture with large plantations growing Tobacco, Cotton, sugar cane etc. They needed labor on these farms and resorted to slave labor as it was cheaper and they could drive the slaves to work longer and harder.

The North on the other hand had started to industralise and therefore needed skilled labour who could work in the factories. They also looked down on slavery and took the lead in abolishing it.

What happened in 1853 to transform Port Townsend from a small logging village to a prosperous town?
yKpoI14uk [10]

I believe none of the options that have been included are accurate. Port Townsend, located in a corner of the Olympic Peninsula, in the state of Washington, became, in 1853, the official port of entry once the district custom house was moved there from the capital, Olympia. The city, which would soon be known as The City of Dreams, was, for a few decades, the region's main port and trading center.
