Lungs are difficult to grow in labs because they're complex organs that require other organs to work (the rest of the organs in the respiratory system).

The lung's sensitivity is also something that doesn't help while growing lungs on labs.

Hope it helped,

The large number of alveoli in lungs improve diffusion by ____.
nekit [7.7K]

Answer: a. Increasing the surface area for diffusion

Explanation:

When the air is inhaled through the nostrils, the air containing the oxygen the air diffuses inside the alveoli. The alveoli are the tiny sacs where air enters and exchange of gases takes place. From the alveoli the oxygen enters into the blood stream. The oxygen is utilized by the cells for respiration. The increase in network and number of the alveoli will increase the surface area for the diffusion of oxygen and hence, will speed up the respiration process.

Explain why it is important to animals for the major carbohydrate storage polymer, glycogen, to be branched rather than unbranch
kolezko [41]

Answer: A branched polymer has greater terminal glucose residues in comparison to a unbranched polymer of the same molecular weight resulting in a higher number of terminal glucose residues required to be mobilized when energy is demanded. Enzyme and polymer evolve together to meet the dire need for rapid mobilization.

Explanation:

In comparison to an unbranched polymer, a branched polymer has a more compact and symmetrical molecular conformation with a greater terminal glucose residue. It can be broken down easily when energy is needed. For instance, the branched form of starch, amylopetin, in the small intestine starch is hydrolyzed to form glucose which is converted to biochemical energy and stored for later use.

Describe the impact of human activities on natural resources;
Anastasy [175]

Answer:

As the human population has grown, the need for more land has caused an increase in the cutting down of forest lands for habitation and farming. The result has been an increase in soil erosion, an increase in species extinction from habitat loss, and a reduction of oxygen supplied by the trees, as well as lower amounts of carbon dioxide being removed from the atmosphere. Industrial and personal use of fossil fuels has dramatically increased the amount of air pollution in the atmosphere while systematically using up the supply of the non-renewable resources such as coal, oil and natural gas
