Area of rectangle = 20 x 30 = 600 in^2
Area of triangle = 1/2(10 + 20 + 10)(30) = 1/2(40)(30) = 600 in^2

Area of figure = Area of rectangle + Area of triangle
Area of figure = 600 in^2 + 600 in^2 = 1200 in^2

Answer
1200 square inches.

Hope it helps

We can find the area of this shape by breaking it down into similar pieces. In this case, two triangles and a rectangle.

First, the area of the rectangle. The area of a rectangle is w*h = a
w*h = a
20 * 30 = a
600 = a

Next, we can calculate the area of the triangles. They're the same measurements so we need only calculate it once, then add it twice. The measurement for the bottom is 10 + 20/2 = 20. The 20/2 came from the fact that the very bottom measurement is divided in half between the triangles. The formula for the area of a triangle is (w*h)/2 = a.
(w*h)/2 = a

(20*30)/2 = a

600/2 = a

300 = a

Now we need only to add everything up. 600+300+300 = 1200 inches^2

26) Answer is choice A: y = -3
This is the horizontal line that cuts the figure into two congruent pieces.
--------------------------------------------------------------

27) Answer is choice A: AB = 24 and DE = 12
CA/DF = 12/6 = 2
CB/FE = 20/10 = 2
The ratio of the larger to smaller corresponding sides is 2:1 or just 2

So AB needs to be twice as long as DE
That only happens with choice A
