Societal norms refer to the norms, rules or patterns established on society mainly in terms of how people should behave and live, this includes the customs, traditions, lifestyle and behaviors and attitudes in different situations. In this way, societal norms set what is appropriate and what it is not in relation to a society or group of people living together. However this norms or parameters are not linked to emotions as emotions are mental states that emerge as feelings, thoughts, and reactions to certain situations, this means emotions are psychological and individual processes that do not follow social standards as they emerge naturally on the individual and do not belong to patterns established by a society or group of people. Considering the previous, the one that is not a category of societal norms is emotions as these follow just natural individual psychological processes.
