Answer:

Also known as persuasive device or stylistic device, the rhetorical device is a technique that is often used by an author or speaker to express something that is intended to change the mind of the listener or reader about the subject. This can be done by emotional display, logical reasoning, and other ways. Although it can actually evoke a strong emotional response, it isn't the goal of the rhetorical devices.

Why does nick feel responsible for getting people to the funeral? Why do you suppose wolfsheim reacts the way he does?
Ainat [17]

There are a few possible answers that come quickly to mind for this question. The first is that Nick is an extremely lonely person. Before the action of the novel starts (with his introduction to Gatsby and his rich lifestyle), Nick describes himself as being alone in a profession for which he holds no passion. He meets Jordan, who is certainly glamorous, but also has a sort of honest integrity about her absent from most of Gatsby's other guests. This is the second reason. He can tell there is something both childish and troubled about her, which suggests a depth he can't find in others, including his cousin. He has a story to tell, and she seems a person to share it with. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that he is attracted to her.

in mending wall the speaker does not see the necessity of the wall what does the speaker do that could be considered ironic
Genrish500 [490]
The action of the speaker that can be considered ironic is that actually the speaker takes initiative of establishing the wall up to himself but then he questions it and has some doubts about that. There is another irony,  I would say, the main one, you may find it useful : the wall which was meant to separate neighbours brings them together every year in order to repair it. Is it really the borderline?Hope that helps.
