Cultured mammalian cells grown in thymidine for many generations were allowed to undergo replication in the presence of bromodeo

Answer:

All chromatids have one newly synthesized strand that contains BrdU and one parental strand that contains thymidine.

Explanation:

DNA replication occurs by semi-conservative way, in which one strand is newly synthesized and one is old, as both the strands of parental DNA serve as template and and finally two copies are formed from a single DNA molecule.

As each strand serve as a template, so that it makes complementary strand of itself by base pairing, as G pairs with C and A pairs with T.

So in newly formed DNA, one strand is parental and one strand is newly formed.

Hence, in the presence of bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU), after one round of replication, all chromatids have one newly synthesized strand that contains BrdU and one parental strand that contains thymidine.

Pachacha [2.7K]
Mitochondria are membrane-bound cell organelles (mitochondrion, singular) that generate most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell's biochemical reactions. Chemical energy produced by the mitochondria is stored in a small molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP).

Competition for which resource is a dominant ecological factor in the rocky intertidal?
Andrew [12]

Answer: In the middle intertidal, barnacles, mussels and seaweeds all compete for space – a precious limited resource. Mussels are generally the dominant competitor on rocky shores and without the presence of predatory seastars would outcompete other taxa and occupy all available space.

Give the two ways nitrogen can be fixated so plants can use it to grow.
Maurinko [17]

\huge\mathfrak\red {Answer:}

Fixation

Nitrogen in its gaseous form (N2) can’t be used by most living things. It has to be converted or ‘fixed’ to a more usable form through a process called fixation. There are three ways nitrogen can be fixed to be useful for living things:

Biologically:

Nitrogen gas (N2) diffuses into the soil from the atmosphere, and species of bacteria convert this nitrogen to ammonium ions (NH4+), which can be used by plants. Legumes (such as clover and lupins) are often grown by farmers because they have nodules on their roots that contain nitrogen-fixing bacteria.

Through lightning:

Lightning converts atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia and nitrate (NO3) that enter soil with rainfall.
