First we find the vertex of parabola f(x)=-12 x^{2} +7

The vertex of parabola is ( \frac{-b}{2a},f( \frac{-b}{2a}))
Here,
b = coefficient of x term
a = coefficient of x² term

For given parabola, b = 0 , a = -12

So,
\frac{-b}{2a}= \frac{0}{-24} =0

And,

f( \frac{-b}{2a} )=f(0) = -12(0)+7=7

Thus the vertex of parabola is (0, 7)

To find another point on parabola, substitute x by 1.

f(1)=-12( 1^{2}) +7=-12+7=-5

So the second point on parabola is (1,-5)

The plot of parabola is shown in image below:

Here are a bunch of CORRECT answers, your answer is somewhere in there. For the first CORRECT answer the second point is -5,-9. Don't make the same mistake I did on question 3, but it still shows the correct answer. I love to help.

Find the slope of the line that is perpendicular to the line that passes through the points (5,2) and (8,1)
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

3

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of the line passing through the points is

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    = ( 1-2)/(8-5)

   = -1/3

The slope that is perpendicular is the negative reciprocal which is

- ( 1/(-1/3)

+ 3/1

The perpendicular slope is 3

Can anyone help me solve question B and explain please please please please please please
hram777 [196]

Answer:

m>2

                                                  ()***********************

<--------------------(-2)-------(0)------(2)--------------------------->

Step-by-step explanation:

3m>m+4

Subtract m on both sides:

3m-m>m+4-m

Simplify both sides:

2m>4

Divide both sides by 2:

m>2

So this means we want values of m greater than 2, not including 2.

Lady_Fox [76]
Okay what you could do is type 400 divided by 2/3 into a calculator, but on paper you would do 400 divided by 3, which is 150, then multiply 150 by 2 since it’s “2/3’s” of 400.
400 / 3 = 150,
150 x 2 = 300, so 300 is correct.
