I attached a file here. And so here is my explanation
So here's the way that my country teach kids how to divide numbers
4024 | 68
If you can see, 40 cannot divide for 68, so we could take 402
Take 40 to compare with 6, we could have 6 as our quotient. But unfortunately, 6*68 = 408, so we'll take 5 instead.
5*68 will equal 304, 402 - 340 = 62
Takes 4 down with 62 so we got 624. Do the same process as above. Hope it helps.

A school district transported a total of 409 students and teachers to a zoo in buses and vans.
valina [46]

Answer: There are 385 students and teachers who rode to the zoo in buses and 24 students and teachers who rode to the zoo in trains.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Total number of students and teachers = 409

Let the number of vans be x

Let the number of buses be x+5

Number of students and teachers each bus transported = 55

Number of students and teachers each van transported = 12

According to question,

55(x+5)+12x=409\\\\55x+275+12x=409\\\\67x=409-275\\\\67x=134\\\\x=\frac{134}{67}\\\\x=2

Total number of students and teachers who rode to the zoo in buses will be

55(x+5)\\\\=55(2+5)\\\\=55\times 7\\\\=385

Total number of students and teachers who rode to the zoo in vans will be

12x\\\\=12\times 2=24

Hence, there are 385 students and teachers who rode to the zoo in buses and 24 students and teachers who rode to the zoo in trains.

You could use simple factoring to solve this. You would factor out a 7 and then have

7(3+4m) = A

l x w = A

w= 3 +4m

The sum of three numbers is 113 . The second number is 3 times the third. The first number is 7 less than the third . What are t
OLga [1]
Number 1 = 17
number 2 = 72
number 3 = 24

work:

the three numbers are symbolized as x, y, and z

x + y + z = 113

number 2 (y) is 3 times the third number (z) so

y = 3z

so x + 3z + z = 113

the first number (x) is 7 less than than the third number (z) so

x = z - 7

so z -7 + 3z + z = 113

5z - 7 = 113
5z = 120

z = 24

x = 17
y = 72

Hope this helped :)
