Setup Average Equation:
_____________________
Average=Sum of our 4 numbers + unknown number of x
                ____________________________________
                                          Total Numbers
15 = 3 + 19 + 8 + 32 + x
       ______________
                      5
Cross Multiply
___________
3 + 19 + 8 + 32 +  = 15 x 5
x + 62 = 75
Subtract 62 from both sides of the equation to isolate x:
___________________________________________
x + 62 - 62 = 75 - 62
x = 13

A carpenter makes legs for 3-legged stools and 4-legged tables. He makes a total of 57 legs.
Viefleur [7K]
4 legged tables : x 3 legged stools : y x + y = 20 y= 20 - x 4x + 3y = 68 Replace y by 20 - x so we only have one letter 4x + 3(20 - x) =68 4x + 60 - 3x =68 x + 60 = 68 x = 8 To find y replace x by 8 y = 20 - 8 y = 12 So you have 8 four legged chairs and 12 three legged stools. Hope I helped!

–4x – 7 = y x2 – 2x – 6 = y Which statement is true? There are no real number solutions. There is one unique real number solutio
Aleksandr [31]

Answer:

<h3>There is one unique real number solution at (–1, –3)</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the two linear equation

–4x – 7 = y ...1

x² – 2x – 6 = y ...2

Equating the left hand side of both equations since they are equal to the same variable  y will give;

-4x-7=x^{2} -2x-6\\collecting\ the\ like\ terms\\x^{2} -2x+4x-6+7 = 0\\x^{2} +2x+1 = 0\\x^{2} +x+x+1 = 0\\x(x+1)+1(x+1)=0\\(x+1)^{2}=0\\ taking\ square\ root\ of\ both\ sides\\x+1 = 0\\x = -1\\

Substituting x=1 into equation 1 we have;

y=-4(-1)-7\\y=4-7\\y = -3

This means there is only one unique real number solution at (-1, -3)
