The Korean war left thousands of people dead.  This impacted on the economies of both North and South Korea. The biggest difference being that many of the South Koreans were hardworking. As a result, South Korea began manufacturing labor-intensive products and selling these products to the rest of the world. South Korea now has the one of the largest economies in the world.
