The base of a right triangle is 13 less than 2 times the height. The area of the triangle is 12 square cm. What is the height of
Romashka [77]

Answer:

The height of the triangle is 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

First we need to write down the question in a mathematical format and then solve.

let b be the base of the triangle and h be the height of the triangle

"The base of a right triangle is 13 less than 2 times the height" can be written as

b = 2h - 13 -----------------------------------------------------(1)

"The area of the triangle is 12 square cm" can be written as;

area of the triangle = 12 cm²

but area of a triangle = \frac{1}{2} ×b × h

This implies that

\frac{1}{2} ×b × h = 12 cm²

bh = 24 cm² --------------------------------------------------(2)

substitute equation (1) in equation (2)

(2h - 13)h = 24

2h² - 13h = 24

2h² - 13h - 24 = 0 ----------------------------------------------(3)

The above is now a quadratic equation, so we will solve by completing the square method.

Find two numbers such that its product will give -48 and its sum will give -13

The two numbers are -16 and 3

Replace -13h by  (-16h +  3h) in equation (3)

2h² - 13h - 24 = 0

2h² - 16h + 3h - 24 = 0

2h(h - 8) + 3(h-8) = 0

(h-8)(2h+3) = 0

either h-8 = 0

           h = 8

OR

2h + 3 = 0

2h = -3

h =-3/8

There is no such thing as negative length, therefore h= 8 is the answer

The height of the triangle is 8 cm

Gre4nikov [31]
So her NORMAL salary is $325, and if she sells anything, she gets 6.5% of the money of what she sold. she sold $4,800 so u need 6.5% of that PLUS her regular salary of 325
so 4800*0.065=312.
312+325=$637
she got $637

3. (02.01 LC) simplify [-3 over 5] ÷ [7 over 6]A.-7 over 10B.-18 over 35C.18 over 35D7 over 10
Alex

For this case we want to do the following operation:

-3/5 divided by 7/16 and we can do this:

-\frac{3}{5}\cdot\frac{6}{7}=-\frac{18}{35}

And then we can simplify and we got:

-\frac{18}{35}

avanturin [10]

Answer:

H0 : μ = 60000

H1 : μ ≠ 60000

Test statistic = 3.464

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

Sample mean salary, xbar = 80000

Sample standard deviation, s = 10000

Population mean salary , μ = 60000

Sample size, n = 3

Hypothesis :

H0 : μ = 60000

H1 : μ ≠ 60000

The test statistic :

T = (xbar - μ) ÷ (s/√(n))

T = (80000 - 60000) ÷ (10000/√(3))

T = 20000 / 5773.5026

T = 3.464

The Decison region :

If Tstatistic >Tcritical

Tcritical at 10%, df = 2 ; two - tailed = 2.9199
