WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST ANSWER: In a certain clothing store, 3 shirts and 5 ties cost $60, and 2 shirts and 3 ties cost $39. What i

s the cost of each shirt? If s = the cost of a shirt and t = the cost of a tie, which system of equations represents the problem? 3t + 5s = 60 and 2t + 3s = 39 3s + 5t = 60 and 2s + 3t = 39 s + t = 60 and 5s + 8t = 99

Let s be the cost of one shirt and t, the cost of 1 tie
Then:
(a) 3.s + 5.t = 60
(b) 2.s + 3.t = 39

Solve this equation by elimination:
Let's eliminate t. To that end you multiply all the terms of (a) by negative 3 and all the terms of (b) by positive 5

(a) 3.s + 5.t = 60→→  (-3).(3.s+5.t) → - 9.s - 15.t = -180(c)
(b) 2.s + 3.t = 39→→ (+5).(2.s+3.t) → +10.s + 15.t  = 195 (d)

Now you add (c) + (d) → s= $15 , This is the cost of 1 shirt. To find the cost of 1 tie, you replace s by 5 in any of the equation, say (b):

(b) 2.s + 3.t = 39 → 2.(15) + 3t = 39 → 30+3t = 39 and 3t =39-30 = 9

So 3t = 9 and t = $3 (price of 1 tie)

Answer:

Option B is correct

System of equation:

3s + 5t = 60

2s + 3t =39

Cost of each shirt is $ 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Let s represents the cost of a shirt and t represents the cost of a ties.

As per the given condition:

For 3 shirts and 5 ties cost $ 60

⇒ 3s + 5t = 60

and

For 2 shirts and 3 ties cost $ 39

⇒ 2s + 3t = 39

Then, the system of equation which represents the problems :

3s + 5t =60             ......[1]

2s + 3t = 39             ......[2]

To find the cost of each shirt;

Multiply equation [1] by 3 to both sides and [2] by 5 we have;

3 \cdot (3s + 5t)= 3 \cdot 60

Simplify:

9s + 15 t = 180                 ......[3]

5 \cdot (2s + 3t)= 5 \cdot 39

Simplify:

10s + 15t = 195                ......[4]

Solving equation [3] and [4] simultaneously we get;

s = 15

Therefore, the cost of each shirt is; $ 15.

It cost body $44.88 to but 12 gallons of gas . What is the cost per gallon of gas?
storchak [24]
You would have to find it in terms of single units:
Divide 44.88 by 12:
44.88/12= 3.74
Therefore, the cost per gallon of gas is $3.74
