Density is one of the most essential physical characteristics, which leads towards the generation of layers in the Earth. Density is illustrated as the mass per unit volume of a substance. Both the continental and the oceanic crust are less dense in comparison to the mantle. However, with the help of the diagram one can clearly see that oceanic crust is denser in comparison to the continental crust.

This is mainly the reason that why the continents are situated at a higher elevation in comparison to the ocean floor. The oceanic crust, continental crust, and the mantle exhibit different densities as they are formed of distinct types of rocks with different densities.

Write a nuclear reaction for the neutron-induced fission of u−235 to form xe−144 and sr−90.
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

235/92U+10n→144/54Xe+90/38Sr+2/10n

Explanation:

  • The nuclear reaction for the neutron-induced fission of u−235 to form xe−144 and sr−90 is represented by;

235/92U+10n→144/54Xe+90/38Sr+2/10n

  • In nuclear fission reactions a heavy nuclide is split into two light nuclides and is coupled by the release of energy.

The average propane cylinder for a residential grill holds approximately 18 kg of propane. How much energy (in kJ) is released b
brilliants [131]
Combustion is a chemical reaction between a fuel and an oxidant, oxygen, to give off combustion products and heat. Complete combustion results when all of the fuel is consumed to form carbon dioxide and water, as in the case of a hydrocarbon fuel. Incomplete combustion results when insufficient oxygen reacts with the fuel, forming soot and carbon monoxide.

The complete combustion of propane proceeds through the following reaction:
C_{3} H_{8} + 5O_{2} --> 3CO_{2} + 4H_{2}O

Combustion is an exothermic reaction, which means that it gives off heat as the reaction proceeds. For the complete combustion of propane, the heat of combustion is (-)2220 kJ/mole, where the minus sign indicates that the reaction is exothermic.

The molar mass of propane is 44.1 grams/mole. Using this value, the number of moles propane to be burned can be determined from the mass of propane given. Afterwards, this number of moles is multiplied by the heat of combustion to give the total heat produced from the reaction of the given mass of propane.

14.50 kg propane  x  1000 g  x   1 mole propane     x   2220 kJ
                                     1 kg              44.1 g                     1 mole

= 729,931.97 kJ

The products of photosynthesis are the starting materials of cellular respiration true or false
notsponge [240]

True....

Explanation

Cells use oxygen to release energy during photosynthesis/chlorophyll/cellular respiration. For photosynthesis, the starting materials are water and carbon dioxide, and the products are sugar and oxygen. For cellular respiration, the starting materials are oxygen and sugar, and the products are carbon dioxide and water.
