Add -8 + 7. You get -1.
-1 ÷ 2 is -.5, or -1/2.
You forgot the negative.

A survey of 100 students was taken concerning their knowledge of foreign languages. The results were as follows: 30 know French1
Sati [7]
35 students would not know any of the three languages, because if 30 know French, 19 knew German, and 16 knew Russian, that must mean that 65 students know at least one of the three languages. So you subtract 65 from 100 and end up with 35

A dilation is an enlargement if the scale factor is _____ between 0 and 1. greater than 1. less than 0. equal to 1.
boyakko [2]

Dilation is one of the several means by which we can transform a graph. A function is dilated when is stretched away from an axis or compressed towards an axis. So this means there are 2 types of dilation: a) Stretch (Enlargement) and b) Compression.

Depending on the direction of Dilation, we have Horizontal Dilation and Vertical Dilation.

For a function y = f(x), horizontal dilation is achieved when x is replaced by \frac{x}{A} and vertical dilation is achieved when y is replaced by \frac{y}{A} where A is the scale factor.

In each of these cases, the function will be stretched if |A| > 1 and will be compressed if |A| < 1.

Therefore, the answer to the given question is:

A dilation is an enlargement if the scale factor is greater than 1.

In one month, Mikhail’s Furnishings can make 160 carpets or 160 quilts, while Dominique’s Parlor can make 120 carpets or 200 qui
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Mikhail’s Furnishings: 160 carpets or 160 quilts

Dominique’s Parlor:  120 carpets or 200 quilts

<u>Current production per month</u>

Mikhail’s: 80 carpets and 80 quilts

Dominique’s: 60 carpets and 100 quilts

<u>Post-trade</u>

Mikhail’s: produces 160 carpets

Dominique’s: produces 200 quilts

They trade 90 quilts for 70 carpets so at the end of trade they will have items as follows

Mikhail’s carpets will reduce from 160-70=90 carpets but have additional 70 quilts

Dominique’s quilts will reduce  from 200-90=110 but have additional  carpets of 70

<u>Gains from trade</u>

Comparing outcome of post-trade with current production

Mikhail’s Furnishings: 90 carpets-80 carpets=10 carpets

                                  90 quilts-80 quilts=10 quilts

Dominique’s Parlor: 70 carpets -60 carpets=10 carpets

                                110  quilts-100 quilts=10 quilts

\\ \sf\longmapsto 2(L+B)=55

\\ \sf\longmapsto 2(\dfrac{4}{3}x+x)=55

\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{8}{3}x+2x=55

\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{8x+6x}{3}=55

\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{14x}{3}=55

\\ \sf\longmapsto 14x=165

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=11.78

\\ \sf\longmapsto x\approx 12

Now

  • B=x=12
  • L=4/3(12)=4(4)=16
