A football is kicked toward the goal. The height of the ball is modeled by the function h(t) = -16t2 + 64t where t equals the ti

me in seconds and h(x) represents the height of the ball at time t seconds. What is the axis of symmetry and what does it represent?
t = 2; it takes 2 seconds to reach the maximum height and 2 seconds to fall back to the ground
t = 2; it takes 2 seconds to reach the maximum height and 4 seconds to fall back to the ground
t = 4; it takes 4 seconds to reach the maximum height and 4 seconds to fall back to the ground
t = 4; it takes 4 seconds to reach the maximum height and 8 seconds to fall back to the ground

H(t) = -16(t^2) + 64t

roots:

0 = -16t^2 + 64t
0 = t^2 - 4t
0 = t(t-4)
t=0 and t =4

The symmetry axis is at the middle of the two roots: t = (0+4)/2

That time (t=2)  is what it takes the object to reach the maximum height.

Answer: t = 2; it takes 2 seconds to reach the maximum height and 4 seconds to fall back to the ground

Ricardo has saved 83% of the money he needs to buy a new skateboard that costs $150. How much MORE does he need to save to buy t
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

17%, or $25.50

Step-by-step explanation:

If Ricardo has already saved 83% of the money, then he needs to save 17% more, because 83% + 17% = 100%

So what you need to do to figure out the answer is to find out 17% of $150

You first have to convert 17% into decimal form which is 0.17.

Then, you multiply 0.17 × 150 = 25.5

Ricardo needs $25.50 to buy the skateboard.

Hope this helped.

How much time will it take for a truck to travel 20 meters if it is traveling at 4m/s
Zinaida [17]

Answer:

t = 5 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

Speed of the truck, v = 4 m/s

It is required to find the time taken by a truck to travel 20 meters. It can be assumed that the time is t. Using the formula of speed.

v=\dfrac{d}{t}

After rearranging, we get :

t=\dfrac{d}{v}\\\\t=\dfrac{20\ m}{4\ m/s}\\\\t=5\ s

So, the time taken by a truck to travel 20 meters is 5 seconds.
