How does our system of checks and balances help protect our rights ? Why is the power divided?

History

The system of checks and balances help protect our rights because if congress decided they want to pass a law, the president has to okay the bill. If the president thinks its taking rights away he can veto or pocket-veto the bill. Another example is that the president can move troops wherever he wants military wise, but can't declare war. Only congress can declare war. But in retrospect, the power is divided so that one group in the government has to much power over people and over other government politics.<span />

How did the railroad system affect the u.s. economy in the 1860s
belka [17]

Answer:

It helped because one, farmers could only produce what they needed and enough to sell to the *nearby* people. With railroads, transportation was super duper cheap and maximum fast. And two, it also changed communications, although the telegraph did that more, and it made the country a country that could be crossed in a matter of days, not months, so much smaller in a way. And three,  the railroads even helped shape the physical growth of cities and towns, as steam railroads and then electric street railways facilitated growth along their lines and made suburban living feasible.

IgorLugansk [536]

Explanation:Thomas Hobbes 'and John Locke's are famous political philosophers. There views regarding human nature similar at some places but at some other places they differ.

Similarities:

  1. Both the philosophers have given importance to human nature.
  2. Both the philosophers consider that there is need of government to exercise control over human beings.
  3. Both also refers to the risk that might arise when no governmental control is there.
  4. Both highlighted the point that there should be equality among humans, otherwise it might give rise to war like situations.

Differences:

Hobbes believed that human beings are not humble at all ,they are cruel by nature. As per him the fittest will survive so the need government to control them ,otherwise there will be war like situations.

Locke's believed that humans are social creatures ,they want to be the part of society.humans have good nature and they need government to maintain that nature.

I agree with Locke's point of view. His views are more positive as compared to Hobbes'
