The amount of matter and energy decreases as we move from grasses to coyotes.

Further Explanation:

In food chain series of organism eat each other to transfer energy from one another. The food chain is started from primary producers and move upward.

In the food chain, primary producers are autotrophs that synthesize their own food through photosynthesis.

Primary producers eat by primary consumers that are mainly herbivores and eat plants.

Primary consumers eat by secondary consumers pyramid, they are mainly meat-eaters.

These categories in the food chain called trophic level. The food chain is started from 1st trophic level. In this consumers absorbs energy from producers and support the next trophic level in the food chain.

According to the energy pyramid,10% of energy is transferred from the 1st trophic level to 2nd trophic level. Energy decreases as we go upward in the food chain.

Thus, energy decrease when we move from grasses to coyotes.

Answer: Decreases

Explanation: The amount of energy decreases as we move up in the tropic level.

The maximum energy can be seen in the the producers and then at each tropic level only 10% of the energy is transferred to another level.

Here, the matter increases increases as we move up from producers towards consumers. The energy decreases at each level as compared to the previous level.

Setler79 [48]
