Answer:

\dfrac{1}{9}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given a spinner with 3 equally spaced colors Red, Blue, Yellow.

The colors are equally spaced, therefore probability of each color must be same.

i.e. Probability of occurrence of any one color in one spin is \frac{1}{3}.

To find:

Probability that spinner will stop one green in first spin and yellow in the second spin = ?

Solution:

As all the colors are equally likely to occur, so

Probability of green color in the first spin, P(G) = \frac{1}{3}

Probability of yellow color in the second spin, P(Y) = \frac{1}{3}

As we can observe that occurrence of any color in the second round of spin is not dependent on the color occurrence in the first spin, therefore these are the independent events.

P(G and Y) = P(G) \times P(Y)

\Rightarrow P(G\ and\ Y) = \dfrac{1}{3}  \times \dfrac{1}{3}\\\Rightarrow P(G\ and\ Y) = \bold{\dfrac{1}{9}}

Therefore, the required probability is

\dfrac{1}{9}.

There are 4 different math courses, 5 different science courses, and 2 different history courses. If a student must take one of
rusak2 [61]

A student can take three subjects in 40 ways.

<u>SOLUTION:</u>

Given that, there are 4 different math courses, 5 different science courses, and 2 different history courses.

A student must take one of each, how many different ways can this be done?

Now, number ways to take math course = 4

Number of ways to take science course = 5

Number of ways to take history course = 2

So, now, total possible ways = product of possible ways for each course = 4 x 5 x 2 = 40 ways.

Hence, a student can take three subjects in 40 ways.
