After Gutenberg invented the printing press, labors were required for manuscript making. So it leads to an increase in literacy rate.

In 1440 Gutenberg invented the printing press. The printing press had reduced the cost of printing materials. Due to a high population, more printing materials are required.  

This created jobs for the people. Many people learned about the jobs and then it further goes on increasing. Before the invention, each book should be written in hand. The printing press made a revolution during that time.
