The Indian Removal Policy that was taken by President Andrew Jackson forced Native Americans that lived in Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi to move to Oklahoma in 1830. This moving is now called the Trail of Tears because it had devastating results for the Native Americans, including their culture.

Native Americans were obliged to assimilate white European Culture and society, to relocate to a territory that they did not belong to and were not adapted to.

Native Americans were forced to learn how to farm and adapt to a lifestyle that they were not adapted to.
