Make both Improper fractions by taking 3*10=30+3=33 put that over 10. then 2*5=10+2=12 put that over 5. so you have 33/10-12/5 take 12/5*2/2 to make the denominators equal at 10 so now you have 33/10-24/10= 9/10 and that is your answer.

You find the LCD which is 10.  that makes it 3 3/10 - 2 4/10. but you can't subtract 3 from 4. so you borrow from the 3 making it a 2 and then add denominator and numerator making it 13/10.  2 13/10 - 2 4/10= 9/10.
