List and describe each of the five major attributes of populations that help ecologists predict population growth or decline. Br
ser-zykov [4K]

The five major attributes of populations that help ecologists predict population growth or decline are -

1. Population size- This describes the total population in the area. It helps to ascertain if there is any need for population protection or any need for breeding.

2. Population density- It determines that large organisms live in less populated density places whereas it is easy to find groups and mates in a high populated places.

3. Population distribution- A population may have a uniform, random, or clumped distribution pattern

4. Sex ratio- It depicts the number of males to number of females. This will determine if the population will increase or decrease in the near future.

5. Age structure- defines the relative numbers of organisms in each age group. This indicates whether population will grow or shrink overtime.

Which best describes the role of a primary consumer in a food web? Carnivore that feeds on producers Herbivore that feeds on pro
Andreyy89

Hello there! :D

First of all, let me put in a picture of a food web for you to reference!

(you should see it below)

Let's talk about how a food web works. Many science books will tell you that a food web is like a pyramid, but this could not be more false! A food web shows the relationship between consumers and producers within any given ecosystem. Sometimes it is not as simple as a line or diagram, because some animals can be both primary, secondary, and teriatry consumers (us!!).

Look at the food web below, and see the grass that eventually is eaten by the grasshopper. We know that the primary source of energy for plants is the sun, which is not included in the web, but just so you know for reference for future questions. What thing in this web supplies the energy for the entire food chain? The producers! This would be the grass and the planktin you see in the web.

What is the difference between primary and secondary consumers?

Glad you asked! Primary means first, and secondary means second. Primary consumers are cosumers that directly eat producers. That would be the grasshopper or the fish! Secondary consumers recieve energy from producers from primary consumers. Examples of these are the mouse and lobster.

So, the best answer to the question above is a Herbivore that feeds on producers, because a primary consumer is a consumer that eats producers directly, and most producers are plants! Answer "B".

I hope this helps you and you have a wonderful day,

Kai xx

15. The cell in the picture has been placed into a hypertonic solution as shown. The dots represent a solute (such as salt or su
ElenaW [278]

Answer:

The cell will shrink

Explanation:

Osmosis is the net movement of water molecules through a semipermeable membrane like the cell membrane from a region where their concentration is low to a region of high concentration. When the external solution has a higher osmotic pressure than the cell contents, then it is said to be hypertonic. The cell was placed in a hypertonic solution. The concentration gradient between the outside and the inside makes water molecules to move through the cell membrane to the external solution. This makes the cell to shrink due to loss of water.
