Piecewise functions are a group of sub-functions that apply to a certain interval of the independent variable. They may be continuous or discontinuous. A graph is discontinuous if the graph has some breaks in it.

If you graph the piecewise functions, the graph would look like that in the picture. The values of x on the left of the graph are taken arbitrarily just to see the behavior of the function. The domain of the piecewise functions, in other words, is the coverage of its x-values. As long as the graph passes that certain x-coordinate, it is part of its domain.  Note that you use the '(' or ')' when it is not inclusive, while you use '[' or ']' if it is. The domain is inclusive when you only use ≤ or ≥, but not inclusive if it uses only < or >.

Therefore, the range is (2,8].

If total revenue is 3000, cost of goods 1500, and total selling expense is 500; what is the profit for the business
Mrrafil [7]
. If total Revenue is $3000, Cost of Goods is $1500, and total Selling Expense is $500 Question: what is the Profit for the business= The total revenue is 3 000 dollars The expenses =1 500 dollars for gold's costs= 500 dollars for selling expenses. Now, let's add the expenses and subtract it to the total earnings= 1 500 dollars + 500 dollars = 2 000 dollars
Now, let's subtract=3 000 dollars - 2 000 dollars = 1 000 dollars Thus, his profit is 1 000 dollars

Carolina goes to a paintball field that charges an entrance fee of \$18$18dollar sign, 18 and \$0.08$0.08dollar sign, 0, point,
valentinak56 [21]

The inequality that describes this scenario is:

18 + 0.08B \geq 75

----------------------

  • The entrance fee is of $18.
  • Each paintball costs $0.08.
  • Thus, the cost of buying B paintballs is given by:

C(B) = 18 + 0.08B

----------------------

  • For the promotion, the spending must be of at least $75, thus, the inequality that describes this scenario is:

C(B) \geq 75

18 + 0.08B \geq 75

In April, Senator Smith’s approval rating dropped from 62% to 57%. In May, the approval rating decreased by another 8 percentage
Keith_Richards [23]

Senator Smith's percentage rating must increase by 13% in other to undo the previous decreases.

Initial rating = 62%

April rating = 57%

May rating = 57% - 8% = 49%

Final rating after decrease = May rating = 49%

In other to return to initial rating :

Initial rating - Final rating

62% - 49% = 13%

Hence, in other to undo the decrease in April and May rating, Senator Smith's percentage rating must increase by 13%
