Hammurabi was most famous for The Code of Hammurabi.<span> T</span><span>he most complete and perfect </span>extant<span> of </span>Babylonian<span> laws, developed during the reign of </span>Hammurabi. <span>It consists of his legal decisions that were collected toward the end of his reign and inscribed on a diorite </span>stela<span> set up in Babylon’s temple of </span>Marduk<span> There were 282 case laws that included economic provisions, </span>family law<span>, </span>criminal law<span> and </span>civil law<span>. Penalties varied according to the status of the offenders and the circumstances of the offenses. The laws varied from offender to offender because of how specific the laws were. The laws would go as far as where the offender lives and what job the offender has or whom the offender may know to determine proper punishment.</span>
