When the "c" is followed by "a" or "o" , it changes in "ç"  and makes a hard sound

c + A = sound like "calm"

c+ a = sound like "cold"

c + e = sound like cell, that's the soft sound we want to hear

ç +a = soft sound

ç + o = soft sound
