Consider a situation in which P(A) = 1/8, P(C) = 1/4, and P(A and B) = 1/12. What is P(B and C)?
V125BC [204]
ANSWER

P(B \: and \: C) =  \frac{1}{6}

EXPLANATION

Recall that,

P(A \: and \: B)=P(A) \times P(B)

But we were given that,

P(A)= \frac{1}{8}

and

P(A \: and \: B) =  \frac{1}{12}

We substitute these values into the above formula to obtain,

\frac{1}{12} = \frac{1}{8}  \times P(B)

This implies that,

\frac{1}{12}  \times 8=8 \times  \frac{1}{8}  \times P(B)

This simplifies to,

P(B) =  \frac{8}{12}

P(B) =  \frac{2}{3}

So we can now find
P(B \: and \: C).

We use the same formula again,

P(B \: and \: C) = P(B) \times P(C)
We substitute the values to get,

P(B \: and \: C) =  \frac{2}{3}  \times  \frac{1}{4}
We multiply out to get,

P(B \: and \: C) =  \frac{1}{6}

Find the length of AB pls and thank you
Ilya [14]

Answer:

x=4

AB=19

Step-by-step explanation:

in such a parallelogram the length of AD must be equal to the length of BC.

=>

18x = 17x + 4

x = 4

AB = 4x + 3 = 4×4 + 3 = 19

According to the fundamental theorem of algebra, how many zeros does the function f(x) = 4x3 − x2 − 2x + 1 have?
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer: 3 zeroes.

Explanation:-

  • The fundamental theorem of algebra states that any polynomial with degree m>0  and complex coefficients has atleast one complex root.
  • Corollary of fundamental theorem states that for any polynomial with degree m>0 has exactly m solutions.

The given function is f(x)=4x^3-x^2-2x+1

Because it is a polynomial function with degree 3>0 , Therefore by corollary of fundamental theorem of algebra , it has 3 zeroes.
