First, we need to find a common denominator.

3*3/4*3 = 9/12

Now add the numerators.

9+8 = 17

17/12 = 1 5/12

Answer: 1  5/12

5 * 3/4 = 

5/1 * 3/4 = 15/4

15/4 = 3  3/4
