So what you first want to do is isolate y.

This could be done by first adding x to both sides:

5y - x + x = 20 + x

5y = x + 20

Then divide everything by 5.

y = 1/5x + 4

Now to graph this equation:

Slope intercept form is y = mx + b.

b would be the y intercept and m the slope.

So therefore you know that 4 is the y intercept.

So first just plot the point (0, 4), and then from there you can take the slope and graph it from there. So basically, the y goes up by 1/5 each time the x goes up by 1. So then you could graph it by looking at where 5 is on the x axis and then graphing one above 4 from there, if that makes any sense.

Let's worry about graphing this first: 5y-x=20

If you set x = 0, then y = 4, and the y-intercept is then (0,4).
If you set y = 0, then x = -20, and the x-intercept is (-20,0).

Plot these 2 pts and then draw a str. line thru them. Done!

If you wish to solve 5y-x=20 for y:

1) add x to both sides:    5y = 20
2) divide both sides by 5:  y = 4

Sladkaya [172]
The equation of a line that passes through the point (x1,y1) and has a slope of m is
y-y1=m(x-x1)

given
slope=5
and passes throught (-2,-1) is
-2=x1
-1=y1

y-(-1)=5(x-(-2))
y+1=5(x+2)

In 2013 a wildfire near yosemite National park burned about 400 square miles of forest. If one square mile equals 640 ares, abou
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]

Answer:

Forest area burned by the fire is 256000 acres.

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the unitary method to calculate the area of National park burned in acres.

Since, 1 square mile = 640 Acres

Therefore, 400 square miles = 640 × 400

                                                = 256000 acres

Hence, forest area burned by the fire is 256000 acres.

Riley needs 32 pirates for every 2 pirate ships he manages.
aleksandrvk [35]

#1 = 96

#2 = 162

There is 16 pirates per ship since there is 32 pirates in 2 ships. This means that you can multiply 16 by 6 and 16 by 12 to get your answers

Write an equation and solve. Round to the nearest hundredth where necessary.
Likurg_2 [28]
Equation
Y=P%*X

Y= 25%*75
