Natan Sharansky is a notable former Soviet dissident, human rights activist, former Prisoner of Zion, Israeli politician and author.

He was a refusenik and dissident in the Soviet Union during the 1970s and 1980s and he spent nine years in Soviet prisons. He served as Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency from June 2009 to August 2018.
