 I don't have a pencil or paper with me so I can't find the exact answer but I can guide you through the problem. First you want to subtract 7.05 from 40.75. This should give you the remaining amount of  room on the platform. We will call that number "x". Since  the bench is in the center, the amount of one edge of the bench  to the corresponding edge on the platform should be the same on the opposite side.
