Food provides the raw materials for biosynthesis and energy for cell activities. The body needs food, for growth and development and also for energy; these foods include; proteins, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals. Food helps us to stay healthy and productive; through various functions; for example proteins; are needed to build, maintain and repair muscle, blood, skin and bones and other tissues and organs in the body.
