Describe a spartan upbringing. How does this differ from the childhood of an American child?
Gnoma [55]
In Sparta, the boys were taken from their homes and forced to live in a military school and learn to fight, steal, and murder helots then served in the army until they were 60 while the girls learned to wrestle and defend the city while the men were away at battle. In today's American society, all children are required to get an education in math, science, English, and history. What forces led Americans to declare war on Britain in 1812?
Luda [366]
There were a few causes that led to the American declaration of war against the British in 1812. At this time Britain was at war with France and attempted to cut off trade between the US and France. Additionally at sea the British were impressing US seamen or forcing them to become part of the British Royal Navy. Another cause of the war was that the British were helping to arm Native Americans to prevent American expansion westward. As a result of these forces the U.S. eventually went to war with Great Britain.
