Answer:

1) Translated to left by 2 unit.

2) Translated down by 1 unit.

3) Compressed vertically by 1/2 unit.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :  Graph of the function f(x)=\frac{1}{2}(3)^{x+2}-1

To find : How does f(x) relates to its parent function.

Solution : First we figure out its parent function

Parent function is the simplest form of the function.

f(x) parent function is g(x)=3^x

Now, how f(x) relates to g(x)

1. The parent function has been translated to the left.

Translated to left means

f(x)→f(x+b) , graph of f(x) has been translated by b unit.

In g(x)→g(x+2), graph of g(x) has been translated by 2 unit.

→The graph of g(x) has been translated to the left by 2 unit in the graph of f(x).

2)The parent function has been translated to the down.

Translated to down means

f(x)→f(x)-b , graph of f(x) has been translated left by b unit.

In g(x)→g(x)-1, graph of g(x) has been translated down by 1 unit.

→The graph of g(x) has been translated to the down by 1 unit in the graph of f(x).

3)The parent function has been compressed.

Compressed means

f(x)→a g(x) , graph of f(x) has been compressed by a unit.

In g(x)→(1/2)f(x), graph of g(x) has been compressed vertically by 1/2 unit.

→The graph of g(x) has been compressed vertically by 1/2 unit in the graph of f(x).

If a third of the students entering high school drop out before graduating, but three-fifths eventually return and get their dip
GrogVix [38]

Answer:

\dfrac{13}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

If a third drop out, Initial fraction of those who graduate = 1-\frac{1}{3} =\frac{2}{3}

Three-fifths of those who dropped out(one third) eventually return                         = \frac{3}{5} of \frac{1}{3} =\frac{3}{5} X \frac{1}{3}=\frac{1}{5}

The proportion of students entering high school who eventually graduate

= Those who graduated Initially+Those who returned

=\frac{2}{3}+\frac{1}{5}=\frac{10+3}{15}=\frac{13}{15}

A rectangular piece of paper with length 35 cm and width 14 cm has two semicircles cut out of it, as shown below.
Ede4ka [16]

Answer: 336.14 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of the rectangle after being cut, we want to find the area of the two semicircles and subtract it from the area of the rectangle. The area of the rectangle is just base times height, or 35cm times 14cm = 490cm² . Since there are two semicircles with the same diameter, we can just solve for the area of a circle and subtract it. To find the area of the circle, we need the radius, which we get by dividing the diameter by 2. After that, we calculate the radius to be 7cm, squared and multiplied by 3.14 (area of a circle) to get 153.86 cm². Subtract the areas, and we get 490 - 153.86 = 336.14 cm²
