Implicit memory, also called nonassociative memory, is memory that evokes skills, word cues, objects, associations, non-association-based learning, and mechanical learning. Learning to drive or ride a bicycle is a good example of using this memory. Although damage to the hypothalamus causes memory-related problems, implicit memory is not impaired by such damage, so the client is able to learn and memorize new activities.
