Answer:

The correct answer is a) Matthew has lived in several different cities: Twin Falls, Idaho; Charleston, South Carolina; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Explanation:

The reason why this sentence is correct because the use of colon and semi colon is correct in it.  Semi colon is basically used to separate elements that are different from each other. In this sentence, a small pause pause was required between the different elements which could not be catered with a comma or full stop. Answer:

The correct answer is a) Matthew has lived in several different cities: Twin Falls, Idaho; Charleston, South Carolina; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Explanation:

In this sentence, the correct use of the colon and semicolon is observed. The colon is used when in a sentence it is required to make a statement about what was mentioned previously in the text, implying to the reader that the text continues and that a pause should be made. The pause is less than what would be done if it were a point but more significant than what is done for a comma. Example: <em>In the candy store, there were: chocolate, popsicles, and candies of all flavors. </em>

The semicolon is used in situations where it is necessary to separate elements of the sentence that are expressions that include commas, for example: It is necessary to buy bread, ham, and cheese for sandwiches; Lettuce, seeds, and vegetables for the salad.

What does edgar allan poe mean by the use of the word sinister to describe the physician in the fall of the house of usher?
Anit [1.1K]
I believe the correct answer is <span>hiding an important secret.
</span>Although sinister does mean evil, or intending harm, I believe that Poe didn't use that word his with that meaning. This is the excerpt of when he met the man on the staircase:
<em>"</em><span><em>His countenance, I thought, wore a mingled expression of low cunning and perplexity. He accosted me with </em></span><em>trepidation</em><span><em> and passed on."
</em>There is no evil feelings here - the narrator can only see that his host is afraid because of something, and he doesn't yet know why.<em>
</em></span>

Select NP if the fragment is a noun phrase (subject) and select VP if it is a verb phrase (predicate).
Neko [114]

Answer:

NP

Explanation:

It's not an only noun phrase. The fragment consists on two noun phrases which are joined by the preposition "of". The first noun phrase is "the glow" where "the" is a determiner and "glow" is the noun, and the second noun phrase is "the soft candlelight", In this NP, "the" is a Determiner, "Soft" is an adjective, and "Candlelight" is a noun.
