Answer:

The correct answer is a) Matthew has lived in several different cities: Twin Falls, Idaho; Charleston, South Carolina; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Explanation:

The reason why this sentence is correct because the use of colon and semi colon is correct in it.  Semi colon is basically used to separate elements that are different from each other. In this sentence, a small pause pause was required between the different elements which could not be catered with a comma or full stop. In comparison to other options, this option had the nest use of it that made sense.

Answer:

The correct answer is a) Matthew has lived in several different cities: Twin Falls, Idaho; Charleston, South Carolina; and Des Moines, Iowa.

Explanation:

In this sentence, the correct use of the colon and semicolon is observed. The colon is used when in a sentence it is required to make a statement about what was mentioned previously in the text, implying to the reader that the text continues and that a pause should be made. The pause is less than what would be done if it were a point but more significant than what is done for a comma. Example: <em>In the candy store, there were: chocolate, popsicles, and candies of all flavors. </em>

The semicolon is used in situations where it is necessary to separate elements of the sentence that are expressions that include commas, for example: It is necessary to buy bread, ham, and cheese for sandwiches; Lettuce, seeds, and vegetables for the salad.

Why do you think the ideal communication style is assertive communication?
anyanavicka [17]

There are four main styles of communication. I include a short description in each of them:

  • passive: let others take the decisions for you: not express feelings or needs, ignoring your personal rights. Ex: "<em>I’m okay with whatever you want to do".</em>
  • aggressive: defensive or hostile behaviour, ignoring others, personal benefits. Ex: "<em>this is what we’re doing." ( no option to change it)</em>
  • passive-aggressive: being subtle, appearing passive but influencing others with sarcasm and irony, avoiding conversation. Ex:  <em>attittudes such as spreading rumours, sabotaging other people's efforts.</em>
  • assertive: direct, honest communication, respecting the feeling, ideas of others. Ex: <em>"I need for you to do.... because I feel..."</em>

In general, it is said that ASSERTIVE COMMUNICATION is the best in order to hold a respectful and long-term relationship, but it depends on the situations we encounter, the type of communication we use.

Where is the punctuation error in this sentence?
lesantik [10]

Answer:

1.) The sentence should say, "Diego Alvarado, who was my college classmate, writes excellent book reviews and speeches."

Explanation:

A comma creates a pause in a sentence as the reader reads the text. Since this person is providing extra info about Diego, they should put a comma to separate it from the overall message.
