While most marketing to Generation Y tries so hard to be hip that it borders on parody, Vans has kept the decades-old brand real

and vital for Gen Yers. Marketing programs the footwear manufacturer uses to reach Gen Yers include the Vans Skate Parks, which operate in malls around the country; the wildly successful Vans Warped Tour for alternative music; and the Vans Triple Crown, the brand’s answer to the X Games. The segmentation plan used by Vans relies heavily on _____ segmentation.

Answer:

age

Explanation:

Age segmentation is basically a type of demographic segmentation where market are divided based on the age of the consumers.

I guess this question is a little old, because 40 year old Gen Yers are unlikely to be skateboarding at the mall. Their children might, but not them. I'm part of that segment (born from 1/1980 to 12/1993) and I cannot see myself or any of my classmates and friends doing it.

The question should be updated from generation Y to generation Z which includes basically younger people. I do not mean to offend anyone, some might still skateboard, but the same as with football, not because Tom Brady keeps playing it means that all NFL players are over 40.

Answer:

age

Explanation:

Based on this information it can be said that in this scenario the segmentation plan used by Vans relies heavily on age segmentation. This is when the company focuses on certain age groups to target within the population. Which in this scenario the Vans company is targeting strictly individuals between the ages 24 and 39 which are referred to as Generation Y.

navik [9.2K]

Answer:

Instructions are listed below.

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Marquis Company estimates that annual manufacturing overhead costs will be $809,000. Estimated annual operating activity bases are direct labor cost $494,000, direct labor hours 52,400, and machine hours 108,200.

To calculate the estimated manufacturing overhead rate we need to use the following formula:

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= total estimated overhead costs for the period/ total amount of allocation base

Direct labor:

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= 809,000/494,000= $1.64 per direct labor dollar

Direct labor hours:

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= 809,000/52,400= $15.44 per direct labor hour

Machine hours:

Estimated manufacturing overhead rate= 809,000/108,200= $7.48 per machine hour
