The conflict that's developing is both are fighting over land and who will get it at the end so Buckminister is thinking on what to do next.. he questioning and the stone person is stating what will lead to them being removed but Buck as you can see is thinking of ways to avoid this .. i would say answer is Turner’s father, Reverend Buckminster, is torn about what to do about the people on Malaga Island and needs more time to think
