The Power of a Point theorem tells us, if we draw a line from a certain point, no matter which line we choose, the product of the two distances from the point to the line's intersections with the circles will be constant (or, if the line is tangent to the circle, the value will be equal to the square of the distance to the point of tangency).  So,applying the tangent rule to the x-distance intersection and the two-intersection rule to the other, we have x^2 = 2(2+6) = 16, so taking the square root of the equation gives x=4.

Suppose we fit a regression line to predict the number of incidents of skin cancer per 1,000 people from the number of sunny day
Jet001 [13]

Answer: The incidence of skin cancer (melanoma) has been underestimated.

Step-by-step explanation: The frequency of melanoma is more than 20 times higher in whites than in black Americans. In general, the risk of melanoma in the course of life is approximately 2.6% (1 in 38) for whites, 0.1% (1 in 1.000) for black people and 0.58% (1 in 172) for Hispanics. the risk for each person can be affected by a different number of factors.

A young child throw a ball upwards with an initial velocity of 20 feet/second. The height of the ball (in feets) after t seconds
Levart [38]
If this is a parabolic motion equation, then it is a negative parabola, which looks like a hill (instead of a positive parabola that opens like a cup). Your equation would be h(t)= -16t^2 + 20t +3. That's the equation for an initial velocity of 20 ft/s thrown from an initial height of 3 ft. And the -16t^2 is the antiderivative of the gravitational pull. Anyway, if you're looking for the maximum height and you don't know calculus, then you have to complete the square to get this into vertex form. The vertex will be the highest point on the graph, which is consequently also the max height of the ball. When you do this, you get a vertex of (5/8, 9.25). The 9.25 is the max height of the ball.

What two numbers add up to -20 and multiply to -1125
Oliga [24]
I don't have my calculator handy just now. But just looking at that problem, why don't you try +20 and -45 and see if they do the job.

My son, Garrett, is 11 years old and has a piggy bank that he wants to fill. He started with 5 one dollar bills. Every Saturday
Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

1) M(x) = 5 + 3x

2) Dependent variable; 3 dollar bills

Independent variable: chores

3) Range is continuous

Domain is discrete

4) Range: 0 ≤ x ≤ 10

Domain: 5 ≤ M ≤ 35

Step-by-step explanation:

We are told he started with 5 number of $1 dollar bills and that every Saturday, he earns 3 more $1 dollar bill.

Thus, total number of $1 bills earned after x number of Saturdays(weekly) is;

M(x) = 5 + 3x

After 10 weeks, total number is;

M(10) = 5 + 3(10)

M(10) = 35

The dependent variable is the 3 more dollar bills earned each Saturday because it depends on chores he completed. While the independent variable is the chores because it doesn't depend on anything.

After 10 weeks, the range and domain will be;

Range: 0 ≤ x ≤ 10

For the; Domain:

For x = 1, M(0) = 5 + 3(0) = 5

M(10) = 35

Thus;

Domain: 5 ≤ M ≤ 35

The range could be all numbers in the interval from 0 to 10. Thus, it is continuous.

Whereas, the domain doesn't contain all the numbers in the interval from 5 to 35. Thus it is Discrete.
